ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a crappy day and a half it has been. I thought I’d download a virus checker to see if I had any, and guess what? I was infected all over! 1 virus had infected 700-800 of my .exe files, causing them each to grow to 200k extra (taking up hard drive space) and about 5 other viruses were attatched to downloaded files. Nasty stuff. I downloaded four different programs, and I think I have killed them all now.
I used Avast Antivirus, which was good at detecting the viruses but crap at getting rid of them, unless i deleted the whole file (that caused problems and had to reinstall windows 2000)
EZ Antivirus, was bad.
F-Prot virus detector was the best out of all, and deleted most of the viruses (although missed 3 others).
BitDefender was ok, but pretty buggy and caused my computer to crash a wee bit (blue fatal error screen) and wouldn’t;t allow me to check email.
McAffee Online checker, seemed to go ok, but found no new ones - that was my last scan.
So there ya go. Prevention is the best remediy!
