A QUEENSLAND man received serious injuries to his foot when his son’s school science experiment went wrong.
Secondary school students were required to build a self-propelled vehicle and followed a plan acquired from the internet, police in Ipswich said.
The vehicle was made from light wood and was jet-propelled with an accelerant which exploded when ignited.
One student’s father was taken to Ipswich General Hospital with serious injuries to his right foot, police said.
However, no other details of how the accident happened were immediately available.
Students and their guardians have been warned to be careful when doing such experiments at home.
